JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The grim reaper of Johnstown’s streets, Vantroy Godboat, 45, has been meted out a severe justice by the federal court. Today, United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed a stinging sentence: 24 months in prison, followed by three years’ supervised release, for the brazen violation of federal narcotics laws.
The court’s judgment came after Godboat was caught with his devilish hands in the cookie jar on multiple occasions. Records show that between January 27 and February 4, 2016, this predator of the streets distributed heroin, less than 100 grams each time, inflicting a deadly poison on the innocent. On February 5, 2016, Godboat was caught with intent to distribute more of this killer drug.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted the case with relentless vigor, ensuring that justice was served for those victimized by Godboat’s ruthless trade.
In a statement, Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song commended the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cambria County Drug Task Force for their unwavering efforts in the successful prosecution of Godboat. These agencies’ dedication to ridding our streets of such scum is laudable.
Godboat’s sentence sends a clear message: no matter how deep you may sink into the mire of drug trafficking, justice will find you and mete out its rightful punishment. Let this be a cautionary tale for those who would dare to traffic death in the form of heroin.
