Theodore Elliott Sentenced

Theodore Elliott, a 26-year-old felon from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 48 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm in September 2014 after a prior felony conviction.

Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song announced the sentencing, which was imposed by United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer. In addition to the prison term, Elliott will also serve three years of supervised release following his incarceration.

Elliott was on bond in a state case for possession with intent to deliver cocaine when he illegally possessed the firearm in September 2014. The sentence is set to run consecutively to his state prison sentence for the cocaine charge.

The investigation that led to Elliott’s conviction was conducted by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was funded by the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program (OCDETF), which provides critical funding and coordination for federal and state agencies to work together to identify, investigate, and prosecute major drug trafficking organizations and other criminal enterprises.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. The conviction and sentencing of Theodore Elliott serve as a reminder of the serious consequences of illegal gun possession, particularly for those with prior felony convictions.

The OCDETF program has been instrumental in disrupting and dismantling major drug trafficking organizations and other criminal enterprises. By providing funding and coordination for federal and state agencies, the program has helped to reduce the flow of illicit drugs and guns into communities across the country.

In this case, the OCDETF program played a critical role in supporting the investigation and prosecution of Theodore Elliott. The program’s funding and coordination enabled the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration to work together to gather evidence and build a strong case against Elliott.

The sentencing of Theodore Elliott is a significant outcome in the ongoing effort to reduce gun violence and disrupt drug trafficking organizations in Pittsburgh and beyond. As law enforcement agencies continue to work together to identify and prosecute those who illegally possess firearms and engage in other criminal activity, the community can expect to see a reduction in crime and an increase in public safety.
