Trenton Heroin Dealer ‘BG’ Admits Guilt

TRENTON, N.J. – Another cog in Trenton’s heroin machine has cracked. Bernadino Guervil, 29, known on the streets as “BG,” admitted today to his role in a drug trafficking organization responsible for flooding the city and surrounding areas with heroin. The admission comes as the feds continue to dismantle the ‘Abdullah DTO,’ a ruthless crew that allegedly pumped hundreds of grams of the deadly drug into the community.

Guervil pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin. This makes him the fourth member of the ten-person organization to cut a deal with prosecutors. The Abdullah DTO, led by Ishmael Abdullah, was initially busted in December 2016, but the investigation continues to yield convictions.

According to court documents and statements, Guervil and his co-conspirators operated primarily in the Spring and Passaic Streets area of Trenton from June 2015 through December 2016. The feds weren’t blind to their activities. Through wiretaps, controlled buys, confidential informants, and old-fashioned police work, investigators pieced together the organization’s network. Abdullah sourced the heroin from suppliers like Jose Joaquin Torres-Mezquita and Ileana Sanchez, while he and Keith Hunter coordinated the street-level distribution, using Guervil and others as key players.

This wasn’t some amateur operation. The Abdullah DTO employed classic tradecraft to evade law enforcement: burner phones, stash houses, and coded language. They knew the risks, but the potential profits from the heroin trade were apparently worth it. The investigation revealed a sophisticated effort to move product and protect their operation, but ultimately, the long arm of the law caught up with them.

Guervil now faces a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. His sentencing is scheduled for July 27, 2017. Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick credited a massive multi-agency task force, including the FBI, ATF, Trenton Police, and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, for their work on the case. The investigation extended beyond New Jersey, with assistance from the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, Homeland Security Investigations, New Jersey State Police, and Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Brendan Day is prosecuting the case. It’s important to remember that the remaining defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Guervil was represented by Anthony G. Simonetti Esq. of Hightstown, New Jersey. This case serves as a stark reminder that the heroin trade continues to plague Trenton, and federal authorities are committed to dismantling these criminal organizations, one dealer at a time.
