Wauneta, South Dakota residents are on high alert as two individuals from the Waubay area face federal charges for assault and robbery.
United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Beverly A. Gill, age 43, and Tyler G. Sullivan, age 29, were indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault with Intent to Commit Murder, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Robbery. The indictment was handed down on June 18, 2013.
Gill is accused of participating in the violent crimes along with Sullivan, who was also indicted. The duo is being held accountable for their alleged actions, which are said to have left victims in a state of fear and trauma.
The maximum penalty upon conviction for Beverly A. Gill and Tyler G. Sullivan is up to 20 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both; 3 years of supervised release and an additional 2 years upon revocation; and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
Gill was released on bond, and Sullivan was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not been set. The investigation is being conducted by the Day County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas J. Wright is prosecuting the case.
The charges brought against Beverly A. Gill and Tyler G. Sullivan are merely an accusation, and the duo is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The public is advised to exercise caution when dealing with individuals accused of violent crimes.
