Handcuffed Teen Attacks ICE Agent

Metairie, Louisiana – An 18-year-old Guatemalan national, Jacobo Eduardo Us-Real, is facing up to eight years behind bars after allegedly attacking a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. The incident unfolded January 14, 2026, during a routine immigration check in Metairie, according to federal prosecutors.

ICE-ERO officers approached a vehicle driven by a known illegal alien with a prior deportation order. When officers moved to detain the occupants, the vehicle’s occupants refused to cooperate and tried to speed away. A foot chase erupted after one person fled the scene, and a scuffle broke out with the remaining two—including Us-Real.

After being handcuffed and placed in a patrol car, Us-Real allegedly headbutted the ICE agent while she was attempting to flush pepper spray from his eyes. He then bit her and bolted, still cuffed, before being recaptured. The agent sustained injuries in the attack.

Us-Real was indicted on March 5, 2026, on charges of assaulting a federal officer. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of eight years in prison, three years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and additional court fees. The case is part of the DOJ’s ‘Operation Take Back America,’ a broad initiative targeting illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.
