San Antonio Man Lands 20-Year Sentence for Child Porn Distribution

The grim reality of child exploitation has landed a 33-year-old San Antonio man behind bars for 20 years. Michael Daniel Lee Kiper was sentenced in federal court this morning for his involvement in the distribution and possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, on July 28, 2016, FBI agents executed a search warrant at Kiper’s residence and seized a cell phone and a flash drive. A forensic examination revealed the presence of disturbing images and videos depicting extremely young children being subjected to sexual assault.

Kiper, who has remained in federal custody since his arrest, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child porn and one count of possession of child porn on November 8, 2016. Senior U.S. District Judge David A. Ezra handed down the 20-year prison sentence, followed by 20 years of supervised release.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Richard Durbin, Jr. and FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs emphasized the severity of child exploitation crimes and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Tracy Thompson prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

The court also ordered a hearing to be held in approximately 90 days to allow victims to request restitution in this case. The sentence handed down to Kiper serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of distributing and possessing child pornography.

The Grimy Times urges the public to remain vigilant in reporting suspected child exploitation cases and to support efforts in combating this heinous crime.
