Annamarie Green, Title II Disability Fraud, MN 2024

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Annamarie Green, 60, of Zimmerman, Minnesota, is facing the music after admitting to a brazen scheme to bilk the Social Security Administration out of at least $40,000 in disability benefits. Green pleaded guilty this afternoon to one count of Title II Disability Fraud before Judge Nancy E. Brasel in U.S. District Court, bringing an end to a case that began with an indictment back in January 2020.

According to court documents and Green’s own admission, the fraud began in October 2014 when she applied for, and ultimately received, disability benefits from the SSA in August 2015. But the application was a lie from the start. While collecting checks, Green was actively engaged in “substantial work activities” – she owned and operated Select Home Care, Inc. – a fact she conveniently failed to disclose to the SSA.

For over three years, from August 2015 through 2018, Green deliberately concealed her employment, knowing full well that her work would disqualify her from receiving the benefits she was claiming. She ran a business while simultaneously claiming she was unable to work, a calculated deception that allowed her to pocket at least $40,000 in fraudulently obtained funds. This isn’t a case of someone falling on hard times; it’s a cold, calculated theft from a system designed to help those genuinely in need.

The scheme finally unraveled thanks to the relentless work of the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General. Their investigation uncovered Green’s double life and brought her to justice. As part of a plea agreement, Green has agreed to pay full restitution for the benefits she wrongfully received. It’s a small consolation for taxpayers footing the bill for her greed, but a necessary step towards accountability.

The prosecution is being handled by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Lindsey E. Middlecamp and Assistant United States Attorney Jordan L. Sing, who are determined to see justice served in cases of public trust violations. Green’s sentencing date has not yet been set, but expect a harsh penalty for this calculated and prolonged betrayal of the system.

Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the sentencing.
