Casey Harvey Sentenced

A devastating blow has been dealt to a methamphetamine trafficking ring in the Western District of Virginia, with Casey Harvey, a 30-year-old Luray man, being sentenced to 66 months in federal prison for his role in the conspiracy.

Harvey pleaded guilty in May 2019 to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, and his sentence was handed down in U.S. District Court in Harrisonburg. The sentence is the result of a thorough investigation and prosecution by the United States Attorney’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

According to court documents, Harvey conspired with co-defendant Bryan Lee Estep to traffic large quantities of methamphetamine from Oklahoma into the Western District of Virginia for redistribution. The conspiracy, which lasted from December 2017 to August 2018, involved Harvey introducing Estep to buyers and distributing at least one pound of methamphetamine himself.

The investigation revealed that in June 2018, Harvey assisted Estep in picking up roughly six pounds of methamphetamine from a source of supply in Oklahoma and delivering it to the Western District of Virginia. This brazen act was a major part of the conspiracy, and it ultimately led to the downfall of the trafficking ring.

Estep, who was sentenced in August 2020 to 78 months in prison, was also a key player in the conspiracy. The two men worked together to bring large quantities of methamphetamine into the area, causing harm to countless individuals and communities.

The investigation of the case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Luray Police Department, Augusta County Sheriff’s Office, the Page County Sheriff’s Office, the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Staunton Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jeb Terrien prosecuted the case for the United States, and Acting United States Attorney Daniel P. Bubar and Jesse Fong, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Washington Field Division, announced the sentence.

The sentence of Casey Harvey serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are committed to combating drug trafficking and bringing those responsible to justice. The Western District of Virginia will be a safer place thanks to the efforts of the investigators and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to bring this case to a close.
