Jason Boudreau Gets 235 Months for Child Porn Crimes

Jason D. Boudreau, 47, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, was sentenced today to 235 months in federal prison on federal charges of access with intent to view child pornography and possession of child pornography. The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Court Chief Judge John J. McConnell, Jr., marks the latest fall for a man with a long, violent history of exploiting minors.

Boudreau, already a registered sex offender, was caught in November 2015—less than two years after receiving a five-year suspended sentence in Rhode Island state court for prior child pornography charges. Acting United States Attorney Richard B. Myrus announced that during a state probation term, Boudreau accessed and viewed over 600 graphic images and videos of child sexual abuse on a cell phone seized during a raid at his Woonsocket home.

On November 20, 2015, law enforcement agents from the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and Woonsocket Police executed a court-authorized search following a tip that a child pornography video had been uploaded from his residence. Forensic analysis revealed 677 images of child sexual abuse, including scenes of infants, toddlers, and prepubescent girls subjected to sexual acts and bondage by adult males.

A month later, after a federal warrant was issued, Boudreau was tracked to Branford, Connecticut, where he was arrested and found in possession of another cell phone containing more than 100 additional images of child pornography. The discovery underscored a pattern of deliberate, ongoing criminal behavior despite prior convictions and court-imposed restrictions.

Court records reveal a disturbing criminal trajectory. Boudreau was first convicted in December 2009 on a charge of simple assault involving the physical abuse of an eleven-year-old child. In March 2012, he was convicted of second-degree child molestation, receiving an eight-year sentence with two years to serve. By January 2014, he was again convicted of possession of child pornography and given a five-year suspended sentence and probation. In November 2013, he was arrested in Connecticut on a felony risk of injury to a child charge involving a 14-year-old girl.

Boudreau will serve 235 months in federal prison followed by lifetime supervised release. The court also ordered that he be subject to warrantless searches of his residence, vehicle, workplace, and all electronic devices by U.S. Probation or law enforcement. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise M. Barton in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Rhode Island.
