Michael Christianson Gets 15 Years for Child Porn Books

Hammond, IN — A convicted child molester has been slammed with a 15-year federal prison sentence after shipping books packed with grotesque images of child sexual abuse to a publisher in North Carolina. Michael Christianson, 52, of LaPorte, Indiana, pleaded guilty to three counts of transporting obscene materials, the Department of Justice announced today.

U.S. District Judge Philip P. Simon handed down the 180-month sentence, followed by two years of supervised release, after Christianson admitted to using a computer between June 22, 2019, and July 2, 2019, to transmit three books he authored—each filled with photos of children’s genitals and minors engaged in explicit sexual acts. The material was flagged by federal investigators and traced directly to Christianson’s home.

The case is especially chilling given Christianson’s criminal history. He was previously convicted in LaPorte County, Indiana, in 2003 for the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old boy—a crime that forced him onto the sex offender registry. Despite that designation, he continued to produce and distribute depraved material glorifying child sexual abuse.

In court filings submitted by hand, Christianson described himself as a “virtuous pedosexual,” a brazen declaration that underscores the depth of his perversion and lack of remorse. Federal prosecutors called the books not just illegal, but engineered to normalize and promote pedophilia, making the crime both a legal and moral outrage.

The FBI led the investigation, tracing digital footprints and seizing evidence from Christianson’s electronic devices. Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly Kelley, along with former prosecutor Jill Koster of the Northern District of Indiana, secured the conviction and maximum sentence under federal obscenity and child exploitation laws.

Christianson’s sentencing sends a stark message: even behind a keyboard and self-justifying rhetoric, those who traffic in child sexual abuse will face the full wrath of federal justice. He is currently in federal custody and will serve every day of his 15-year sentence.
