Defendant Lands 4+ Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking
In a shocking turn of events, Bruce McAlpine, a 33-year-old man from Mattawamkeag, Maine, has been sentenced to 58 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
According to court records, McAlpine conspired with others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine between May and July 2018. A coconspirator was obtaining large quantities of methamphetamine from Florida and distributing to locations between Bangor and Houlton. McAlpine agreed to use his home as a storage location to assist in the methamphetamine distribution efforts.
However, the operation came to an end in July 2018 when the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a search warrant of McAlpine’s residence and recovered more than 1,000 grams of methamphetamine and multiple firearms.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigated the case, leading to McAlpine’s arrest and subsequent sentencing.
U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker handed down the sentence, which includes 58 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. This severe punishment serves as a warning to those involved in similar illicit activities.
