Jesus Seguinot Sentenced to 78 Months for Fentanyl Trafficking
New Haven Man Gets 6+ Years for Role in Fentanyl Conspiracy
A New Haven man has been sentenced to more than 6 years in federal prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy. Jesus Seguinot, also known as ‘Chuchi,’ was sentenced to 78 months of imprisonment by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport. This is not Seguinot’s first run-in with the law, as his criminal history includes state convictions for drug distribution and weapon possession offenses.
According to court documents and statements made in court, in June 2020, Seguinot was sentenced in New Haven federal court to 30 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for drug distribution and gun possession offenses. He was released from federal prison in May 2021. However, it wasn’t long before he was back in the game, working with Luis Salaman, also known as ‘Bebe,’ to distribute fentanyl throughout New Haven.
The investigation, led by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, revealed that Seguinot and Salaman worked together to distribute large quantities of narcotics. Between November 2021 and March 2022, investigators made multiple controlled purchases of distribution quantities of fentanyl from Salaman, Seguinot, and their associates. It was also discovered that Seguinot possessed a firearm during that time.
Seguinot was arrested on April 10, 2023, and on December 19, 2024, a jury found him and Salaman guilty of conspiracy to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl. Salaman was also found guilty of three counts of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, 40 grams or more of fentanyl. Seguinot has been detained since January 2, 2025, and is awaiting sentencing. Salaman, who has been detained since his arrest on April 5, 2022, awaits his own sentencing.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David T. Huang. The investigation has been conducted by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, which includes members from the FBI, the Connecticut State Police, the Connecticut Department of Correction, and the New Haven, Milford, East Haven, West Haven, and Wallingford Police Departments.
