A Scarborough man is facing up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material. Robert E. Milholland, 49, was linked to the illicit content on the BitTorrent peer-to-peer file-sharing network, prompting a law enforcement investigation.
In July 2025, Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant at Milholland’s residence, seizing multiple digital media devices containing the disturbing images.
Child sexual abuse material, often referred to as child pornography, captures the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, causing them to suffer revictimization every time the images are viewed.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation.
