Ohio Man Sentenced for $1 Meth Pills Heist

Antuan McClendon, 43, of Cincinnati, Ohio, has been sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison without parole for his role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, McClendon was arrested on December 21, 2023, after a law enforcement dog alerted to his backpack in an overhead compartment on a bus traveling from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Indianapolis, Indiana, which stopped at a terminal in Kansas City, Missouri.

When officers searched McClendon’s backpack, they found a large bundle hidden within a pair of jeans. The bundle contained three smaller bundles, each of which held multi-colored tablets inside clear heat-sealed bags. In total, the bundles contained 8,288 methamphetamine tablets, weighing a total of 2,899 grams.

McClendon admitted to officers that he had purchased the pills in Las Vegas and planned to sell them for $1 apiece. This case is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of methamphetamine trafficking on our communities.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stefan C. Hughes, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration. McClendon pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

McClendon’s sentence is a significant blow to those involved in the trafficking of methamphetamine. We will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these operations, and bring those responsible to justice.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to protecting our communities from the scourge of methamphetamine trafficking. This case is a testament to our dedication to this effort.
