29-Year-Old Guatemalan Citizen Indicted for Reentering US Illegally

A 29-year-old Guatemalan citizen is facing serious consequences after being indicted for illegally reentering the United States.

Oseas Froilan Gomez-Tebalan, 29, a citizen of Guatemala, was indicted today by a federal grand jury for allegedly reentering the country without permission, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

The indictment alleges that Gomez-Tebalan was previously removed from the United States on March 18, 2017, through Phoenix, Arizona, and was subsequently found in Franklin County, Pennsylvania on March 21, 2024, without having obtained legal permission to reenter the country.

The case was investigated by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant United States Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe is prosecuting the case.

Gomez-Tebalan faces serious penalties if convicted, including up to 20 years imprisonment, three years of supervised release following imprisonment, a fine, and a special assessment.

It’s essential to note that indictments are only allegations, and all persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court.

The maximum penalty for the charged offense is a stark reminder of the consequences of violating federal immigration laws. As the investigation unfolds, it’s clear that Gomez-Tebalan’s actions have serious repercussions.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that individuals who break the law are held accountable.
