Eagle River Felon Faces 15 Years for Gun Possession

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A chilling reminder of the dangers posed by felons with guns has taken center stage as an Eagle River man faces a monumental sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Kyle Reynolds, 27, is staring down the barrel of a loaded gun charge after authorities allege he wielded one during a domestic violence assault last October. The grim event unfolded despite a well-documented past that saw Reynolds with prior felony convictions for assault and failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer, resulting in serious injury.

Reynolds is now facing 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1), a federal charge that could see him spending up to 15 years behind bars if convicted. The severity of the charge is not lost on anyone, as it underscores the gravity of being a felon in possession of firearms.

U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker of the District of Alaska led the charge in announcing the charges against Reynolds, along with APD Chief Designee Bianca Cross and ATF Seattle Field Division Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Blais. The Anchorage Police Department (APD) and ATF Anchorage Field Office are jointly investigating this case, seeking to keep their city safe from such a threat.

For anyone with information about Reynolds’s activities involving firearms, suppressors, or any related matters, the APD is urging community members to come forward. Reports can be submitted online through APD\’s website, while tips can be directed to the ATF at their tip submission page.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Adam Alexander and Christina Sherman are tasked with prosecuting this case, which serves as a stark reminder that even in the face of charges, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
