Kansas City, MO – Steven Michael George, 45, of Belton, Missouri, is headed to federal prison for three decades after pleading guilty to trafficking in child pornography. U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough handed down the 360-month sentence today, followed by 30 years of supervised release.
The sentence was significantly boosted by George’s prior convictions in Missouri – first-degree statutory sodomy, first-degree child molestation, and previous possession of child pornography. This wasn’t a first offense; it was a deepening pattern of depravity.
Between March and July of 2023, federal investigators found George was actively distributing images and videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using peer-to-peer file sharing. A search of his devices uncovered a trove of sickening content. He’s now ordered to pay $36,000 in restitution to the victims depicted in those images and videos.
George will be required to register as a sex offender for life upon his release, facing both federal and state restrictions. This case was a joint effort between the FBI and the Kansas City Police Department and falls under the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative.
