PORTLAND, Ore.—In a grim turn of events, Timothy Jeffrey Monahan, 31, of Gresham, Oregon, is now staring down the barrel of federal charges after being caught selling illegal drugs to minors online. The operation? Telegram, an encrypted messaging service.
Monahan, charged with possessing with intent to distribute cocaine and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, has been a relentless dealer, authorities claim. His alleged modus operandi: using Telegram usernames “Thepdxyokai” and “Yokai” to peddle a range of illegal substances including cocaine, LSD, ketamine, DMT, psilocybin mushrooms, and various marijuana and vaping products.
But the shocker came on June 7, 2024, when law enforcement executed federal search warrants at Monahan’s residence and vehicle. They walked away with quantities of cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms, two loaded firearms, drug packaging materials and scales, and a staggering $106,000 in cash.
Monahan, post-arrest, reportedly confessed to using the Telegram accounts to sell drugs to minors and trading controlled substances for sex acts or explicit photos. His first appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge today resulted in an order of detention pending further court proceedings.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Clackamas County Interagency Task Force (CCITF), with Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott M. Kerin prosecuting the case. The CCITF, led by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, is a formidable force working to dismantle drug trafficking organizations in the region.
This case underscores the relentless efforts of law enforcement to protect communities from such predators and keep our children safe.
