GREAT FALLS – In a swift move against illegal immigration, Enys Jose Rosales-Lara, a 39-year-old Honduran national, was sentenced to time served after being caught in the United States without legal permission. The sentence, totaling just 74 days in prison, comes as a stark reminder of the federal government’s zero-tolerance stance on illegal reentry.
According to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme, Rosales-Lara pleaded guilty in May 2025 to one count of illegal reentry. The defendant was caught during a traffic stop in Havre on April 23, 2025. He presented authorities with a Honduran Identification Card but no other identification documents, leading to his arrest.
Rosales-Lara confessed that he most recently entered the United States on September 17, 2023, near El Paso, Texas. Despite having no petitions or lawful right to remain in the country, he admitted to living here without permission. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, with investigations led by the U.S. Border Patrol and Havre Police Department.
Presiding over the sentencing was Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris. Following his release from prison, Rosales-Lara will be remanded to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol for further processing.
This case is a part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and safeguarding communities from violent crime. The operation leverages resources from various Department of Justice task forces, including the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
As the case against Rosales-Lara comes to a close, it underscores the ongoing efforts by federal authorities to maintain security and integrity within U.S. borders.
