Honduran Sentenced for Illegal Reentry in Montana

GREAT FALLS – In a resounding blow to illegal immigration, Honduran national Enys Jose Rosales-Lara, 39, was sentenced today to time served of 74 days in prison for illegal reentry. Upon release, he will be remanded to the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

Prosecutors revealed that on April 23, 2025, law enforcement officers in Havre spotted a suspicious vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Rosales-Lara was seated in the back seat, presenting a Honduran Identification Card as his sole form of identification. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that he had no legal right to be in the United States.

Rosales-Lara confessed his most recent entry into the country was on September 17, 2023, near El Paso, Texas. The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case with vigor, while the U.S. Border Patrol and Havre Police Department spearheaded the investigation.

The sentence handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels, transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguarding communities from violent crime. The operation consolidates resources from various Department of Justice task forces, including the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Rosales-Lara’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against illegal immigration and the commitment to protecting American citizens.

Enys Jose Rosales-Lara’s sentence sends a clear message: illegal reentry is a serious offense that will not be tolerated in the United States.
