DC Father Convicted of Horrific Abuse of 12-Year-Old Daughter

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Washington, D.C. resident, 33, is facing a potential life sentence after a jury found him guilty today of seven felony charges, including the sickening crimes of first-degree child sexual abuse, second-degree child sexual abuse, and incest. The verdict comes after a trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, detailing the horrific abuse of his 12-year-old daughter between April and May of 2023. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the conviction, a rare instance of justice served in a case that will leave scars for a lifetime.

The depravity unfolded during Memorial Day weekend 2023. The victim was staying with her father and his girlfriend when, in the early hours of May 28th, the girlfriend witnessed the defendant’s hand inside the victim’s pants while they were all sharing a bed. This wasn’t a fleeting moment; it was a calculated act of predation. Later that same night, the defendant didn’t stop there. He brazenly texted his daughter, attempting to coerce her into lying to her mother about his unwanted touching, then directly soliciting further abuse.

The texts, presented as evidence, paint a chilling picture of manipulation and control. Following the exchange, the defendant proceeded to rape the victim. The following day, May 29th, the victim’s girlfriend, thankfully, took the child home, where the truth was finally revealed to her mother. The mother immediately sought help, and a sexual assault examination was conducted, providing crucial forensic evidence.

That evidence proved damning. The defendant’s DNA was found on swabs collected during the examination, and spermatozoa was confirmed on vaginal/cervical swabs taken from the victim. But the abuse wasn’t isolated to that weekend. The victim bravely testified before the jury, revealing that the same horrifying acts occurred at the defendant’s house on previous occasions. This wasn’t a single lapse in judgment; it was a pattern of predatory behavior.

The investigation was spearheaded by the dedicated officers of the Metropolitan Police Department, who meticulously gathered evidence and built a case against the defendant. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Folse and Richard Kelley skillfully prosecuted the case, ensuring that the jury heard the full extent of the defendant’s crimes. The Honorable Todd Edelman has scheduled sentencing for October 10, 2025, where the defendant could face up to life in prison.
