Guam Meth Kingpin Gets 135-Months Behind Bars

Hagåtña, Guam – Gavin Domingo Alimurong, the kingpin of a methamphetamine trafficking ring, has been sentenced to 135-months in federal prison. The 27-year-old from Dededo was convicted of conspiracy to distribute at least fifty grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride.

United States Attorney for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, SHAWN N. ANDERSON, announced the sentence. Alimurong also forfeited four vehicles, jewelry, luxury bags, and $350,164 in cash. The court ordered five years of supervised release following his prison term, along with a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

Between July 2019 and July 2022, Alimurong conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine on Guam. He obtained drugs through the dark web, using Bitcoin to pay for shipments via the U.S. Postal Service. His residence and vehicle were searched in December 2021 after a domestic violence investigation, leading to the seizure of 594 grams of meth, 401 grams of cocaine, and various drug paraphernalia.

A search of a storage locker revealed an additional $257,040 in cash from illegal drug sales. Alimurong was also found to have wired $103,165 to multiple individuals across various countries.

United States Attorney Anderson emphasized the severity of drug offenses and the commitment to removing such criminals from the streets. ‘Drug defendants like Alimurong face more than a substantial term of imprisonment,’ said Anderson, ‘We will take any property earned from or facilitating drug trafficking.’

Several law enforcement agencies collaborated on the case, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. ATF Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Blais highlighted the dangers of combining drugs and firearms, noting that Alimurong’s actions put the community at great risk.
