Ramon Ramirez-Frias Sentenced for Illegal Reentry

PHILADELPHIA – The grim reaper of the streets, United States Attorney David Metcalf, dropped a hammer today on Ramon Ramirez-Frias, also known as “Willy Ramirez-Frias” and “Mollo,” a 40-year-old Dominican national currently nesting in Philadelphia. Ramirez-Frias was handed a nine-month prison sentence by United States District Judge Kai N. Scott for the heinous crime of illegal reentry into the United States following prior deportation.

The saga began back in April 2004 when Ramirez-Frias was collared by U.S. Border Patrol in Puerto Rico, processed for voluntary removal, and shipped out of the country. However, like a ghost haunting his past, Ramirez-Frias snuck back in. He was nabbed again by FBI Philadelphia in April 2022 on federal drug charges.

It wasn’t until February 2023 that Ramirez-Frias copped to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin and two counts of possession with intent to distribute heroin. The deportation came knocking once more, this time in November 2023, following an immigration judge’s order.

This year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the FBI were tipped off that Ramirez-Frias had come back from the dead,非法入境,并在费城藏身。他在二月被捕,三月被起诉,四月认罪。

The case is a chilling testament to Operation Take Back America, a DOJ-wide mission aimed at combating illegal immigration, wiping out cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and keeping our streets safe. The initiative leverages resources from OCDETFs and PSN.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations and the FBI had their paws all over this investigation. Assistant United States Attorney S. Chandler Harris was on deck to prosecute Ramirez-Frias, who now faces a future behind bars before he’s once again shipped overseas.
