Pennsylvania Predator George ‘Travis’ Woodfield Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Exploitation

PHILADELPHIA – George ‘Travis’ Woodfield, 41, of Macungie, Pennsylvania, was today sentenced to 360 months in federal prison for his heinous crimes against a child. United States District Judge Joseph F. Leeson Jr. handed down the sentence after Woodfield pleaded guilty to transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and accessing child pornography.

Woodfield, who has been charged since December of last year, drove an 11-year-old victim across state lines for an overnight trip to New York City in November 2018. During the trip, he sexually abused the young child in a hotel room. The court records also reveal that between September 2015 and July 2024, Woodfield accessed numerous depictions of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

“Woodfield’s actions are beyond comprehension,” said U.S. Attorney David Metcalf. “He not only viewed images of child sexual abuse but actively sought out sex with a minor, inflicting irreparable harm.” The sentence handed down today is intended to provide justice for the victim and prevent any further acts of exploitation.

Wayne A. Jacobs, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Philadelphia, emphasized the severity of the crime: “The exploitation of children is among the most despicable crimes we face. Today’s sentencing sends a clear message that predators like Woodfield will be brought to justice.”

This case was part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The investigation was conducted by FBI Philadelphia’s Allentown Resident Agency and FBI Richmond, with assistance from CEOS’s High-Tech Investigations Unit.

Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca J. Kulik, CEOS Senior Trial Attorney Jennifer Toritto Leonardo, and CEOS Trial Attorney Jessica L. Urban prosecuted the case. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, visit http://projectsafechildhood.gov.
