PORTLAND, Ore.—Caden Jay Christman, 29, a Keizer, Oregon man, has been sentenced to federal prison for trafficking over 17 pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Pacific Northwest. Today, Christman was handed a 135-month sentence with five years’ supervised release following his conviction on drug trafficking charges.
According to court documents, law enforcement officers in Powell County, Montana, apprehended Christman during a traffic stop on February 21, 2024. They discovered nine pounds of meth and over 5,000 fentanyl pills hidden within the vehicle’s compartments. The arrest also yielded nearly $17,000 in cash and two firearms.
Further investigation led to searches of Christman’s residence, which resulted in the seizure of an additional 15,000 fentanyl pills, four pounds of fentanyl powder, two pounds of meth, heroin, over $21,600 in cash, and twelve firearms. The search warrants were executed on February 22 and 26, 2024.
On April 16, 2024, a federal grand jury in Portland indicted Christman on four counts, including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, and heroin, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. On February 4, 2025, he pleaded guilty to the charge.
This case was a collaborative effort by the FBI, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Gresham Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole M. Hermann prosecuted the case. Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid up to 100 times more potent than morphine, has been linked to a surge in overdose deaths across Oregon.
