CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Braulio Villa-Chairez, a Mexican national operating under the alias ‘Raul,’ has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The 31-year-old, who was living in the U.S. illegally, admitted to shipping over two kilograms of the substance from Houston, Texas, to West Virginia and elsewhere between March and October 2024.
According to court documents, Villa-Chairez also shipped another package containing nearly a kilogram of methamphetamine to Alabama and assisted in the transportation of an additional 6.407 kilograms of the drug to West Virginia. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
Additionally, Villa-Chairez has been convicted of two federal felony offenses under his real name, Jose Jesus Villa-Chairez. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has an immigration detainer on him, and he will be removed following any sentence.
The investigation into Villa-Chairez’s activities was a joint effort by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT), and local law enforcement agencies. Co-defendant Silvester Barcenas pleaded guilty earlier in 2025, while German Francisco Diaz remains a fugitive.
Assistant United States Attorney Jeremy B. Wolfe is handling the prosecution of this case. Sentencing for Villa-Chairez is set for December 8, 2025.
