Mexican National Pleads Guilty to Heroin Trafficking in Stockton

Alberto Ojeda Lopez, a 69-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin in and around Stockton, California, according to U.S. Attorney Eric Grant. The grim revelation comes as law enforcement continues its relentless pursuit of drug traffickers across the Golden State.

Ojeda Lopez was joined in his criminal enterprise by his wife, Maria Medina Silvas, 66, also from Mexico, and their daughter, Alecsa Ojeda de Oregel, 44, a resident of Stockton. The trio’s sinister dealings reached a climax when they sold an ounce of heroin to an undercover officer in September 2022, followed by the sale of a kilogram of heroin just eight months later.

But their criminal endeavors did not stop there. On August 23, 2023, law enforcement seized 2 kilograms of heroin from Ojeda Lopez’s and Medina Silvas’s vehicle. The following day, agents discovered a Stockton residence used as a drug and money stash house for the conspiracy, leading to the seizure of an additional 2.8 kilograms of fentanyl, 2 kilograms of heroin, almost half a kilogram of methamphetamine, and $83,119 in cash proceeds.

This case is the fruit of a multi-agency investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with significant assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and the IRS Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer will be handling the prosecution.

Medina Silvas and Ojeda de Oregel are set for jury trial on February 17, 2026, while Ojeda Lopez is scheduled to face Senior U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez for sentencing on January 27, 2026. Despite the severe charges against him, Ojeda Lopez’s sentence will ultimately be determined by the court after considering applicable factors and federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The maximum statutory penalty Ojeda Lopez faces is life in prison, a stark reminder of the severity of drug trafficking charges in the United States.
