Felon Christopher Forbes Sentenced for Stadium Armory Pistol Fire

Washington – The grim tale of Christopher Forbes, 30, a repeat offender from Suitland, Maryland, reached its conclusion today as he was sentenced to 66 months in federal prison for illegally carrying a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun near the Stadium Armory Metro Station. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentence.

Forbes pleaded guilty on June 6, 2025, to being a felon in unlawful possession of a firearm. The court’s stern decision also includes three years of supervised release following his prison term, ordered by Judge Trevor N. McFadden.

This case is part of the Make D.C. Safe Again Initiative, which has focused federal efforts on reducing violence and prioritizing federal firearms violations in the District of Columbia.

The night of April 5, 2025, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) rushed to multiple reports of gunfire near the Stadium Armory Metro Station. They found Forbes shouting into his phone. A routine pat-down led to Forbes’ admission that he had a firearm on him, leading to the recovery of the loaded pistol and ammunition.

Law enforcement traced the gun’s serial number to reveal it was reported stolen in North Carolina. A deeper dive into Forbes’ past unearthed a 2024 felony robbery conviction and an active warrant for failure to appear from Prince George’s County, Maryland. Florida also had a non-extraditable warrant for him due to a prior public discharge of a firearm conviction.

Despite being prohibited by federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition due to his convictions, Forbes admitted in his plea agreement to firing the pistol at least four times outside the Metro Station. The ATF Washington Field Office and the MPD investigated this case, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Duvall prosecuted it.
