Derinson Martinez-Grandas: Ring Leader in Asian Business Owner Burglaries

Colombian national Derinson Martinez-Grandas, 34, has been arraigned for orchestrating a ruthless burglary ring that preyed on Asian business owners in Oregon and Washington. The seven-member gang is accused of orchestrating a series of targeted break-ins between October 3 and October 9, 2025.

Martinez-Grandas and his co-conspirators are alleged to have utilized signal jamming technology and countersurveillance tactics to execute their crimes. They shattered glass doors to gain entry into homes where they stole cash, jewelry, and documents from Asian business owners while they were away at work.

According to court documents, the gang’s activities spanned across multiple states, with a particular focus on Asian-owned properties. Detectives in Eugene, Oregon, became aware of their movements and initiated surveillance after their third burglary. A subsequent search warrant led to the recovery of stolen property, digital evidence, and Colombian travel documentation.

Following an intense manhunt, all seven suspects were detained, with investigators uncovering a trove of further evidence detailing the gang’s operations and communication strategies.

“This multi-state operation deliberately targeted hardworking families and struck at the very core of personal safety,” said U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon Scott E. Bradford. “Our law enforcement partners have tirelessly worked to ensure those responsible are held accountable.”

Martinez-Grandas appeared in federal court today, where he was ordered detained.
