Guilty Plea in Immigration Case
A 33-year-old Mexican citizen has pleaded guilty to re-entering the United States illegally, announced U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente.
Ramiro Nava-delgadillo, a citizen of Mexico, admitted to being an alien who had previously been removed from the United States. On April 10, 2013, Nava-delgadillo was found in the United States without having obtained consent from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.
The indictment charging Nava-delgadillo with illegal re-entry also included a notice of sentencing enhancement based on his prior felony conviction. The charge carries a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and 3 years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
Sentencing for the defendant is scheduled for September 26, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. This case was investigated by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE). The prosecution is being handled by Special Assistant United States Attorney Robert Weir.
