A monster with a twisted obsession was finally brought to justice in Eastern North Carolina. Kyle Kenneth Castino, 36, uploaded a staggering amount of child sexual abuse material to Facebook and Google, earning him over 16 years in federal prison.
The investigation began when the platforms reported the offending user to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A trail of digital breadcrumbs led authorities to Castino’s home in Garner, where he had uploaded the disturbing content. When he moved to Selma, the SBI and local cops were hot on his heels, raiding his new pad and uncovering a lockbox filled with devices containing the sickening materials.
Castino’s own admissions sealed his fate: he’d produced images with a child, and his digital devices held a staggering 385,000 images and 3,000 videos depicting the sexual abuse of kids. ‘This crime exhibits stunningly disgusting antisocial behavior,’ U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle said, summing up the disgust felt by all.
On [date], U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan handed down the sentence, which also includes 8 years of supervised release and $35,000 restitution. Assistant U.S. Attorney Charity Wilson prosecuted the case, with the Garner Police Department, Selma Police Department, and SBI providing crucial evidence.
