A brazen daylight shooting at the Wenatchee Valley Mall and a stash of 50 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl pills, and a firearm in his car landed East Wenatchee’s Victor John Stevenson a 17.5-year prison sentence. The 37-year-old was a convicted felon with a history of violence.
On September 4, 2024, Stevenson shot at a vehicle in the mall parking lot. He was caught after reporting to the DOC office for a random drug test and testing positive. DOC officers searched his vehicle and found the drugs and gun. A search warrant led to more evidence, including a pistol in his driveway that matched the one used in the shooting.
Stevenson eventually confessed to the crime. He had been on community custody supervision for a prior state assault conviction. In two separate trials, Stevenson was found guilty of the shooting and methamphetamine trafficking charges.
US District Judge Rebecca Pennell handed down the sentence on April 14, 2026. Stevenson will also serve four years of supervised release following his prison term.
