Stamford Cocaine Dealer Gets Six Months in Prison
Scott Veltiri, a 34-year-old New York resident, has been sentenced to six months in prison for distributing cocaine in Fairfield County. The sentence, handed down by United States District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven, was part of a four-year supervised release plan.
As part of the sentence, Veltiri will serve the first six months of his supervised release in home confinement and must forfeit $30,000. This harsh penalty is a result of Veltiri’s involvement in a Fairfield County-based drug trafficking ring in 2009 and 2010.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Veltiri was part of a group that acquired cocaine from co-conspirators and sold it in smaller quantities to customers in Fairfield County. The investigation, which included the use of court-authorized wiretaps and physical surveillance, revealed the extent of Veltiri’s involvement in the ring.
Veltiri pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, cocaine on March 6, 2013. This guilty plea led to the current sentence, which is a result of the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies.
The investigation into Veltiri’s activities was led by the FBI Fairfield County Organized Crime Task Force and the Stamford Police Department. The Task Force is composed of members from the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, the Stamford Police Department, the Bridgeport Police Department, and the Connecticut State Police.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Hal Chen. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has worked diligently to bring Veltiri to justice, and this sentence is a testament to their commitment to combating organized crime and drug trafficking in our communities.
The Stamford community can rest easier knowing that Veltiri will be held accountable for his actions. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
