A human smuggler was caught in El Paso with four illegal aliens in his vehicle, and federal prosecutors have filed 253 new immigration cases in Western Texas.
U.S. citizen Julian Hernandez allegedly attempted to transport the four aliens to a stash house for a $200 per person fee, according to a federal complaint.
Meanwhile, two other aliens – Guillermo Gonzalo Taperia-Ruiz from Guatemala and Geronimo Reyes-Delgadillo from Mexico – were found near the Fort Hancock Port of Entry, both with prior convictions for violence and sex crimes.
Francisco Antonio Marquez Sanprano, a Mexican national, was taken into ICE custody while serving time for a DWI in Bastrop County.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons announced the new cases, which bring the total number of federal immigration cases in Western Texas to a staggering high.
