John James Adducci, a 41-year-old Fort Myers resident, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for possessing and accessing child sexual abuse images and videos. Between February 2023 and June 2025, Adducci downloaded and viewed thousands of disturbing images and videos from the internet, including the dark web. The investigation began when Adducci received child sexual abuse material from a website on the dark web on December 13, 2023. The motive behind Adducci’s heinous crimes is still unclear, but his actions have been condemned by law enforcement.
The FBI’s Fort Myers Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, which includes the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the investigation. During the execution of a search warrant at Adducci’s residence in June 2025, agents seized his cellphones, laptops, USB drives, and numerous external hard drives. A forensic analysis of the seized devices revealed the shocking extent of Adducci’s crimes.
Adducci pleaded guilty on December 1, 2025, and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell. In addition to his 12-year prison term, Adducci will also serve a life term of supervised release and must register as a sex offender. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Yolande G. Viacava as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The sentence reflects the severity of Adducci’s crimes and the commitment of law enforcement to protecting children from abuse and exploitation. The investigation and prosecution of Adducci’s case demonstrate the importance of collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies in combating child sexual abuse.
