Christopher Victor, Felon in Possession of Converted Machine Gun, Texas 2023
A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a converted machine gun.
Christopher Victor pleaded guilty on August 14, 2023 to possessing a loaded .40 caliber pistol located under his seat.
U.S. District Judge George C. Hanks Jr. handed down the sentence, citing the violent nature and circumstances of the offense and Victor's history of violent conduct, including prior convictions for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.
Victor and his co-conspirator, Melvin Wilkins, 41, were found to be in possession of illegal firearms. Wilkins pleaded guilty on April 7 to unlawful possession of a firearm and was later sentenced to 59 months in prison.
The investigation revealed that the rifle contained an extra part, known as a 'switch,' which converts the firearm into a machinegun or firearm that shoots more than one shot without manual reloading. The rifle also lacked serial numbers or identification, making it unregistrable in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record (NFRTR).
As convicted felons, federal law prohibits Victor and Wilkins from possessing firearms or ammunition. They will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.
