Corpus Christi Meth Dealer Sentenced to 92 Months in Prison

In a major blow to the methamphetamine trade in Corpus Christi, Texas, 30-year-old Edward Andrew Nesmith has been sentenced to 92 months in federal prison for trafficking meth at a local bus station.

According to court records, Nesmith entered a guilty plea on June 16, 2018, for his involvement in a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute meth. The investigation revealed that Nesmith, along with co-conspirator Corina Perez, negotiated terms of the sale or distributed the meth at a local shopping center and bus terminal in Corpus Christi.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and Corpus Christi Police Department conducted the investigation and gathered evidence against Nesmith, which included his history of prior felony drug convictions. In handing down the sentence, U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos noted Nesmith's life of crime and drug use, which spanned over a decade.

Nesmith's sentence will be followed by four years of supervised release. He has been and will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.

This conviction marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in Corpus Christi. The case highlights the importance of holding accountable those who engage in such illicit activities.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Reid Manning prosecuted the case, bringing Nesmith to justice for his role in the conspiracy. The sentence sends a strong message that methamphetamine trafficking will not be tolerated in the community.

Nesmith's co-conspirator, Corina Perez, was previously sentenced to 24 months in federal prison followed by four years of supervised release by Judge Ramos on May 19, 2018.
