George Deleon, Possession of Child Pornography, Texas 2015
Cuero Man Gets Max Sentence for Child Pornography
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A Cuero man has been sentenced to the maximum 120 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson.
George Deleon, 65, pleaded guilty to the crime on March 2, 2015, and was sentenced yesterday to 120 months in federal prison, to be immediately followed by 15 years of supervised release. He has been and will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
The charges against Deleon were the result of an investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and Cuero Police Department. A forensic examination of Deleon's cellular telephone led to the discovery of 96 images of children involved in sexual explicit conduct.
Deleon admitted to sexually assaulting a child victim, at which time authorities received consent from him to search his cellular telephone. The investigation into Deleon began on May 1, 2013, when authorities learned of an allegation of sexual assault involving him and a child victim.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Hugo R. Martinez and was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.usdoj.gov/psc.
