Lubbock Man Sentenced to 9 Years for Child Pornography Charges

A Lubbock man has been sentenced to 9 years in federal prison for his role in a child pornography case. James Galen Brown, 40, was sentenced on March 1, 2013, by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to 9 years in federal prison and a 10-year term of supervised release. This sentence comes after Brown's guilty plea in October 2012 to one count of transportation of child pornography.

Led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña of the Northern District of Texas announced the sentence, stating that Brown's actions were a serious offense against children. Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy was in charge of the prosecution.
