James William Quinney, Jr., Methamphetamine Trafficking, Texas 2026

PLANO, Texas - In a significant blow to the city's narcotics trade, James William Quinney, Jr., a 38-year-old resident of Beaumont, pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges in the Eastern District of Texas.

According to court documents, Quinney was the leader of a drug trafficking organization that distributed kilograms of methamphetamine to other distributors for redistribution. In total, law enforcement seized nearly five kilograms of methamphetamine from Quinney and over $80,000 in U.S. currency.

On May 21, 2026, Quinney pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges. He faces up to life in federal prison at sentencing.

The investigation was part of a larger effort by the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) to eliminate criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.

The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to identifying, investigating, and prosecuting the full spectrum of crimes committed by these organizations, which have long fueled violence and instability within our borders.

Additional defendants charged in the Eastern District of Texas include:

• Latisha Mae Thebeau, 42, of Port Arthur, pleaded guilty to her role in the conspiracy on May 28, 2026. She faces up to life in federal prison at sentencing.
• Micheal Corbin, 48, a convicted felon from Beaumont, pleaded guilty to distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm on May 28, 2026. He faces up to life in federal prison at sentencing.
• Darrell Charles Coleman, 37, a man from New Orleans, pleaded guilty to trafficking methamphetamine on May 28, 2026. He faces up to life in federal prison at sentencing.
• Kory Jarvis Schaffer, 34, also of New Orleans, pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl on May 18, 2026. He faces up to life in federal prison at sentencing.
