Jose Ricardo Lopez Munoz, Deported Alien Found in United States, Nevada 2023

A Mexican national has been sentenced to prison for illegally reentering the United States after being removed on three prior occasions from the country.

Jose Ricardo Lopez Munoz, a 57-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to 13 months and one day in prison followed by three years of supervised release for illegally reentering the United States after being deported to Mexico on November 13, 1995, February 26, 1997, and August 1, 2013.

Lopez Munoz was arrested on November 28, 2023, in Clark County, Nevada, for making a False Statement to Obstruct a Public Officer.

According to court documents and statements made during court proceedings, Lopez Munoz has previous felony convictions for Menacing out of the District Court, El Paso County, Colorado, in 2002, and for Challenge to Fight with use of a Deadly Weapon and with the Intent to Promote Further or Assist a Criminal Gang out of the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County, Nevada, in 2007.

After serving over six years in prison, Lopez Munoz was deported for a third time in 2013.

Lopez Munoz pleaded guilty to one-count of Deported Alien Found in the United States. After serving his prison sentence, he will be deported to Mexico a fourth time.

The ICE Salt Lake City, Las Vegas Sub-Office investigated the case, and the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada prosecuted the case.

Acting United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Field Office Acting Director Jason Knight made the announcement.
