Priscella Yvette Cervantes, Cocaine Conspiracy, Texas 2022
HOUSTON — A shocking case of corruption within the Harris County Constable's Office has unfolded as Priscella Yvette Cervantes, the estranged wife of a former deputy constable, has been sentenced to prison for her involvement in a major cocaine conspiracy.
According to court documents, Cervantes, 46, of Huffman, was convicted by a federal jury on October 25, 2022, following a four-day trial and approximately two hours of deliberations. The jury found her guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.
The charges against Cervantes stem from a series of events that took place on December 5, 2020, when she escorted a tractor-trailer in a 'ghost' police vehicle, a vehicle equipped with lights and sirens and a police decal. Her co-defendant, Alexsandar S. Reyes, met her off Interstate 10 in his marked constable vehicle and then continued to escort the tractor-trailer through the Houston area on I-10.
After the drug escort, Reyes received a total of $6,000 in cash, which Cervantes believed would be split with her. However, the jury did not believe her claims of ignorance, finding her guilty as charged.
Cervantes has been in custody since the return of the verdicts and will remain there pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future. U.S. District Judge David Hittner sentenced her to a total of 121 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release.
The FBI conducted the investigation with assistance from the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable's Office, Houston Police Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Carolyn Ferko and Heather Winter prosecuted the case.
As the estranged wife of a former deputy constable, Cervantes' case raises questions about the integrity of law enforcement within the Harris County Constable's Office. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining the public's trust in those who serve and protect us.
