Ryan David Green, Firearm and Drug Trafficking, Texas 2019
A Midland man has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for his role in a double murder that shook the small Texas city in 2015. Ryan David Green, 27, was convicted of firearm and drug trafficking charges in connection with the deaths of two Midland residents.
On July 17, 2015, Green and his co-defendants, Sean Blake Jobe and Trace Ryan Roland, conspired to murder a Midland man who owed drug money to Roland. The plot turned deadly when Green and Jobe shot and killed the man and his girlfriend, who were living in a shed behind the home. The shed was then set on fire, burning the victims beyond recognition.
Green pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana, one count of discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and one count of murder resulting from the discharge of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. He was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release.
Green's co-defendants, Jobe and Roland, also pleaded guilty to the same charges. Jobe is set to be sentenced tomorrow, while Roland was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison in September 2019.
The Midland Police Department and the DEA investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Brandi Young and Glenn Harwood are prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
The case is a grim reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the devastating consequences of violence. The victims, who were simply trying to live their lives, were tragically killed in a senseless act of violence.
