ALBUQUERQUE – A Shiprock man was sentenced to two years in prison for an assault which resulted in serious bodily injury. There is no parole in the federal system. According to court documents, on August 31, 2025, Tony Tsosie , 57, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, was involved in an assault in Shiprock, New Mexico. Tsosie was arrested on September 3, 2025, and pleaded guilty on April 14, 2026, to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He will serve one year of supervised release following his prison sentence. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Special Agent in Charge Justin A. Garris of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office made the announcement today. The Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Nation Police Department and Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico is prosecuting the case.
