HOUSTON - A 33-year-old Houston woman has been sentenced to four years and three months in federal prison for her role in a brazen identity theft ring that targeted residents in the College Station area.

Tiffany Margaret Taylor was sentenced to a 27-month-term for conspiracy and bank fraud, as well as a consecutive 24-month term for aggravated identity theft, bringing her total sentence to 51 months.

U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison handed down the sentence, ordering Taylor to serve a three-year-term of supervised release following her prison term and to pay $21,640.40 in restitution.

The investigation into Taylor's crimes began when the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) started receiving complaints from individuals in the College Station area about stolen mail, credit cards, checks and other items containing personal identifiers.

Agents obtained surveillance videos and spoke with eyewitnesses who saw Taylor and her co-conspirator, Joshua Lee Miller, using victims' credit cards at the Post Oak Mall in College Station.

Taylor and Miller were subsequently arrested and their vehicle was searched, revealing credit cards, fake identities, merchandise purchased with stolen credit cards and methamphetamine.

Miller, 32, remains in custody pending sentencing next month, while Taylor will begin serving her prison term.

The investigation was led by the USPIS, and Assistant United States Attorney Julie Searle prosecuted the case.

Taylor's crimes left a trail of financial devastation in the College Station area, with many victims reporting stolen credit cards and fraudulent charges.
