Eddie Ademir Villalta Hernandez, 37, of Los Angeles, California, will spend the next decade in federal prison after pleading guilty to a sickening scheme. Between November 2022 and April 2024, Hernandez used social media to groom and coerce vulnerable minors, paying them for explicit images and videos. The sentencing came down yesterday in Tampa federal court, handed down by Judge Steven Merryday.
Prosecutors detailed how Hernandez actively sought out victims online, using an app to build trust before offering money for exploitative material. The investigation, led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), uncovered a clear pattern of predatory behavior targeting children. The feds seized Hernandez’s iPhone, which was used to facilitate the abuse, and it will now be forfeited.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ilyssa M. Spergel successfully argued for the full 10-year sentence, emphasizing the severity of Hernandez’s actions and the lasting harm inflicted on the victims. Beyond prison, Hernandez will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative dedicated to combating child sexual exploitation. The program combines the resources of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute predators and protect vulnerable youth.
