Homietos Motorcycle Gang Crushed

⏱ 3 min read

Houston’s streets are a little safer after federal agents indicted 17 members and associates of the Homietos outlaw motorcycle gang. The group is accused of a brutal reign of violence – murder, attempted murder, assault – all to control territory and settle scores. The feds hit them with a sweeping RICO conspiracy charge, essentially accusing them of running a criminal enterprise. The indictment unsealed today follows an extensive investigation.

Among those facing charges are Ralph Eugene Kellum, 42, of Vidor, scheduled for a court appearance March 19; Romeo Jose Ferrer, 36, of Kingsville, appearing in Corpus Christi on the same day; and Mark Anthony Magallan, 51, of Houston, with a detention hearing also set for March 19 before Judge Christina A. Bryan. The remaining defendants have already appeared or will soon appear in federal court.

Acting U.S. Attorney John G.E. Marck didn’t mince words, stating the gang turned roadways into “battlegrounds.” The indictment details a pattern of intimidation and bloodshed used to expand their criminal footprint. Federal investigators say the Homietos were a serious threat to public safety in the Houston area.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Jason Hudson declared the Homietos “no more,” touting the arrests as the culmination of a relentless pursuit of justice by a multi-agency task force. The investigation involved the FBI, along with numerous state and local law enforcement partners. The charges cover a range of offenses beyond the headline-grabbing violence, including firearms violations related to the alleged criminal activity.
