Gianni Robinson, 28, is headed to federal prison for a decade and a half after orchestrating a series of seven brazen armed robberies targeting the Walgreens on 7th Street NW in D.C.’s Chinatown. From July 2023 to February 2024, Robinson used his connections—including a crooked uncle and store manager—to turn the pharmacy into a regular target for a masked gunman.
Robinson wasn’t pulling the trigger, but he was the brains behind the operation. Court documents show he fed access codes and timing intel to Kamanye Williams, the man who stormed the Walgreens with a gun each time. The crew snagged a total of $28,983, and, shockingly, Robinson apparently found the whole thing amusing, even sending a laughing emoji to Williams after spotting surveillance footage of one of the heists on YouTube. He’s likely not laughing now.
The scheme involved two Walgreens employees: Robinson’s uncle, Michael Robinson, and fellow store manager London Teeter. They provided crucial inside information, facilitating the robberies. One robbery went particularly violent, resulting in a gunman shooting a victim in the chest.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro didn’t mince words. “Robinson isn’t laughing anymore and will serve the next 126 months behind bars,” she stated. Judge Jia M. Cobb handed down the sentence today, along with five years of supervised release and a $7,245.75 restitution order.
