MS-13 Member Apprehended in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA — In a fierce sweep against the notorious MS-13 gang, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations New Orleans arrested Edgar Vixney Hernandez-Velasquez, an illegal alien from Honduras with a final order of removal. The arrest was a result of coordinated efforts between ICE, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations, the Gretna Major Crimes Task Force, and the Gretna Police Department.

Hernandez-Velasquez, known to be an active member of MS-13, had been flagged for removal after intelligence indicated his violent nature. ICE agents tracked him down in Metairie and apprehended him without incident. He is currently in ICE custody, awaiting deportation from the United States.

HSI New Orleans’s Violent Crimes Task Force played a pivotal role in this operation, using their investigative prowess to safeguard the community. ERO Deputy Field Office Director Brian Acuna echoed this sentiment, stating that removing criminal aliens like Hernandez-Velasquez is a top priority for ERO. The agency will continue to enforce immigration laws and protect the public from violent gang affiliates.

HSI New Orleans remains vigilant in its efforts to dismantle transnational criminal organizations and keep communities safe. With ongoing partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, they are committed to eradicating dangerous elements within organized crime networks.

This arrest serves as a stark reminder of the relentless pursuit of justice by ICE and their partners, ensuring that New Orleans remains free from the clutches of violent gang activity.
