Methamphetamine conspiracy has landed David Robley, 52, from Early, Iowa, in hot water after he pled guilty in federal court in Sioux City on May 23, 2013.
Robley admitted his involvement in a conspiracy from about 2010 through January 2013 that manufactured and distributed more than 50 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine. The plea hearing revealed the extent of Robley’s crimes, which included acquiring at least 102.24 grams of pseudoephedrine for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
According to pseudoephedrine purchase logs obtained in the investigation, starting in January 2010 through December 2012, Robley’s actions were a key part of the conspiracy. The investigation was led by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde. Robley was taken into custody by the United States Marshal after the guilty plea and will remain in custody pending sentencing. The sentencing, to be determined by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett, will be set after a presentence report is prepared.
Robley faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $10,000,000 fine, a special assessment of $100, and five years up to life of supervised release following any imprisonment. The severity of the sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime.
